How the scheduling works
Every card sits in one of five boxes. A new card starts in box one and is due immediately. Get it right and it moves up a box, with the gap before you see it again growing from one day to two, four, nine, then twenty-one. Miss it and it drops straight back to box one and returns tomorrow. That is the whole system, and it is the reason twenty minutes of flashcards beats an hour of rereading: your time goes to the terms you do not know yet.
What to do when a card keeps coming back
A term you miss three times in a row is usually not a memory problem, it is a understanding problem. Open the full glossary entry from the link under the card, then follow it into the guide it belongs to. Terms like p-value, standard error, and power are the usual repeat offenders, and each one has a guide behind it that explains where students go wrong.
